GST Suvidha Providers are the special entities who have been authorized to develop a platform to enable the taxpayer to do the GST compliances. A GSP enables a GST taxpayer to comply with all the procedural provisions of the GST law through its web platform. A GSP provides innovative methods or means of an effective interactive platform for taxpayers to access GST portal services ranging from registration and invoicing to completion of <a aria-label=\"GST return (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/commerceiets.com\/gst-returns\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">GST return<\/a> filing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"583\" height=\"411\" src=\"https:\/\/commerceiets.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/image-96.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4173\" srcset=\"https:\/\/commerceiets.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/image-96.png 583w, https:\/\/commerceiets.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/image-96-300x211.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 583px) 100vw, 583px\" \/><figcaption>GST SUVIDHA PROVIDER<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>EXAMPLE<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ABC Ltd is a private multinational company, which is\nrunning operations on SAP ERP. All records with respect to purchases and sales\nare maintained in it. At the end of each month, reports are generated from ERP\nand utilised to prepare and generate tax returns. Thereafter, returns are\nuploaded on the government\u2019s portal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our government is now aiming for single and automated\nworkflow wherein these ERP companies can build an interface with government\u2019s\nportal and all the GST related compliance can be done directly through their\nsoftware.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>GSP need not be only ERP companies but can be startups or\nfinancial technology companies having expertise in building web applications\nfor filing GST return.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\" id=\"gst-suvidha-provider-a-brainchild-of-goods-and-services-tax-network\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"GST_SUVIDHA_PROVIDER_%E2%80%93_A_BRAINCHILD_OF_GOODS_AND_SERVICES_TAX_NETWORK\"><\/span><strong>GST SUVIDHA PROVIDER \u2013 A BRAINCHILD OF GOODS AND SERVICES TAX NETWORK<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>GSP is a term coined by GSTN (Goods and Service Tax\nNetwork), the private non-government entity that owns and maintains the GST\nportal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is in-line with the \u2018Digital India\u2019 initiative that\nadvocates a paperless tax compliance regime that enables transparency and reliability\nin doing business across India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\" id=\"modes-of-interaction-with-gst-portal\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"MODES_OF_INTERACTION_WITH_GST_PORTAL\"><\/span><strong>MODES OF INTERACTION WITH GST PORTAL<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"586\" height=\"340\" src=\"https:\/\/commerceiets.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/image-97.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4174\" srcset=\"https:\/\/commerceiets.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/image-97.png 586w, https:\/\/commerceiets.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/image-97-300x174.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 586px) 100vw, 586px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-green-background-color has-background\"><strong>FILING\nDIRECTLY ON THE GST PORTAL<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A GST taxpayer will usually access the website directly\nfor availing various services offered on the website such as registration, GST\nreturn filing, refund application, and other similar GST compliances. However,\nfor services such as GST return filing, a taxpayer may not be technically\nequipped to file online. Hence, they may find it difficult to collate sales and\npurchase data from his ERP system or accounting software in the required GSTN\nformat. A lot of manual efforts may go into preparing the GST returns. Hence, a\nGST Suvidha Provider is an indirect means yet an easy platform to access the\nGST portal saving time and efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-green-background-color has-background\"><strong>FILING THROUGH\nINDIRECT MODES<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under indirect means, there are two types of\nintermediaries between the taxpayer and the GST portal. They are as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>ASP who is not a GSP<\/em><\/strong><em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These entities provide the requisite third-party\napplications for GST compliance. They have user interfaces via various modes\nsuch as desktop, mobile or any other interfaces for taxpayers just like any\nother Application Service Provider (ASP). Such an application developer can\nconnect with the GST portal via a secure GST system Application Programming\nInterface (APIs) accessed with the help of GST Suvidha Providers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The below diagram will show the two ways of how the taxpayers can&nbsp;<strong>access the GST portal indirectly through an ASP who is Non-GSP:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"604\" height=\"314\" src=\"https:\/\/commerceiets.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/image-98.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4175\" srcset=\"https:\/\/commerceiets.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/image-98.png 604w, https:\/\/commerceiets.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/image-98-300x156.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 604px) 100vw, 604px\" \/><figcaption>GST SUVIDHA PROVIDER<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>ASP who is also a GSP<\/em><\/strong><em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A government-approved application service provider is the\nmost reliable mode of completing GST compliances. They provide the application\nand are also authorised to provide an interactive platform to access the GST\nportal. Such an ASP who is also a GST Suvidha Provider can connect seamlessly\nwith the GST portal and helps avoid; any third-party dependency, thereby\nincreasing the speed of processing of data. Also, an ASP which has access to\nmultiple GSPs will ensure higher uptime availability and scalability for the\nuser.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The below diagram will show the two ways of how the taxpayers can&nbsp;<strong>access the GST portal indirectly through an ASP who is also a GSP:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"604\" height=\"404\" src=\"https:\/\/commerceiets.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/image-99.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4176\" srcset=\"https:\/\/commerceiets.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/image-99.png 604w, https:\/\/commerceiets.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/image-99-300x201.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 604px) 100vw, 604px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Interaction of a taxpayer with the GST portal can, therefore, take place via either of the three routes as follows:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Benefits\nof being an ASP who is also a GSP<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Allows an\u00a0<strong>end-to-end integration with any ERP system<\/strong>\u00a0or accounting software so that data can be      fetched automatically.<\/li><li><strong>Improved and faster performance<\/strong>\u00a0compared to any other ASP not being GST Suvidha Provider.<\/li><li>The\u00a0<strong>integration with the GSTN can  allow a smooth flow of data<\/strong>\u00a0between the application and the GST portal avoiding any third-party dependency.<\/li><li>A\u00a0<strong>single login is needed to access<\/strong>\u00a0different locations (GSTIN) instead of login and logout each time from different locations.<\/li><li><strong>Better security<\/strong>\u00a0ensured as all security standards are met and approved by GSTN.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\" id=\"gst-suvidha-provider-gsp-eco-system\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"GST_SUVIDHA_PROVIDER_GSP_ECO-SYSTEM\"><\/span><strong>GST\nSUVIDHA PROVIDER (GSP) ECO-SYSTEM<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>GSP providers are allowed to create GST\napplication themselves or allow third-party application developers to access\nthe GSTN through them. Also, taxpayers are free to choose an Application\nProviders or GSP of his\/her choice, irrespective and independent to the other.\nThus a taxpayer , can choose a set of services from one GSP and the rest from\nother GSPs. For example, a tax payer can obtain GST registration through one\nGSP or ASP, while filing GST return through another GSP or ASP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\" id=\"gst-suvidha-provider-gsp-license-eligibility-criteria\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"GST_SUVIDHA_PROVIDER_GSP_LICENSE_%E2%80%93_ELIGIBILITY_CRITERIA\"><\/span><strong>GST SUVIDHA\nPROVIDER (GSP) LICENSE \u2013 ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Companies registered in India in the Information Technology, Information Technology Enabled Services, Banking, Financial Services and Insurance sector are eligible for a GSP license. All GST Suvidha Provider applicants must meet strict eligibility criteria. GSP applicants meeting the eligibility will be required to sign a contract with <a href=\"https:\/\/commerceiets.com\/goods-and-service-tax-network\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"GSTN (opens in a new tab)\">GSTN<\/a> to become an authorised GSP. On signing the contract, the GST Suvidha Provider is allocated an unique license key for accessing the GST system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-green-background-color has-background\"><strong><em>Eligibility\nCriteria: 1<\/em><\/strong><em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first set of GST Suvidha Providers were\nrequired to meet the following standards for obtaining GSP license:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Financial\nStrength<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Paid up \/ Raised capital of at least Rs. 5\ncrores and<\/li><li>Average turnover of at least 10 Crores during\nlast 3 financial years<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Demonstration\nof Capabilities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Invoice upload by tax payers<\/li><li>GST Return #1 and #2 preparation and filing<\/li><li>Reconciliation of downloaded GSTR2 with\nPurchase Register<\/li><li>Multiple GSTIN Ids mapped to a single user\naccount<\/li><li>Multiple roles mapped to single GSTIN<\/li><li>E-sign \/ DSC integration for signing of\nreturns<\/li><li>Mobile interface<\/li><li>Alert generation to tax payers<\/li><li>Security design<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Technical\nCapabilities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Backend infrastructure, such as servers,\ndatabases etc., required specifically for the purpose of GSP work shall be\nbased in the territory of India, and<\/li><li>IT Infrastructure owned or outsourced to\ncarry out minimum of 1 Lakh GST transaction per month, and<\/li><li>Data Privacy policy to protect beneficiary\nprivacy, and<\/li><li>Data security measures as per the IT Act.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-green-background-color has-background\"><strong><em>Eligibility Criteria: 2<\/em><\/strong><em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following the onboarding of the first Batch\nof GST Suvidha Providers, the GSTN relaxed the eligibility criteria and invited\nthe second batch. The revised eligibility criteria is as under:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Financial\nStrength<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Paid up \/ Raised capital of at least Rs. 2\ncrores and<\/li><li>Average turnover of at least 5 Crores during\nlast 3 financial years (2014-15, 2015-16, 2016-17)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Demonstration\nof Capabilities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Invoice upload by tax payers<\/li><li>GST Return #1 and #2 preparation and filing<\/li><li>Reconciliation of downloaded GSTR2 with\nPurchase Register<\/li><li>Multiple GSTIN Ids mapped to a single user\naccount<\/li><li>Multiple roles mapped to single GSTIN<\/li><li>E-sign \/ DSC integration for signing of\nreturns<\/li><li>Mobile interface<\/li><li>Alert generation to tax payers<\/li><li>Security design<\/li><li>Technical Capability of GSP (Handling Large\nLoad, Experience in handling large application, Managing Sizable Application\nInfrastructure, Experience in developing complex application etc.)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Technical\nCapabilities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Backend infrastructure, such as servers, databases\netc., required specifically for the purpose of GSP work shall be based in the\nterritory of India, and<\/li><li>IT Infrastructure owned or outsourced to\ncarry out minimum of 1 Lakh GST transaction per month, and<\/li><li>Data Privacy policy to protect beneficiary\nprivacy, and<\/li><li>Data security measures as per the IT Act.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\" id=\"role-of-gst-suvidha-provider\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"ROLE_OF_GST_SUVIDHA_PROVIDER\"><\/span><strong>ROLE OF GST SUVIDHA PROVIDER<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A variety of\ntaxpayers including SMEs, large enterprises, micro enterprises require\ndifferent kinds of facilities. The GSPs provide following services to the\ntaxpayers to help meet the GST compliance effortlessly:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Upload invoice data<\/strong>&nbsp;(B2B and large value B2C).<\/li><li><strong>Upload GSTR-1<\/strong>&nbsp;(return containing supply data), which will be created based on invoice data and      some other data provided by the taxpayer.<\/li><li><strong>GSTR-2A download and reconciliation<\/strong>&nbsp;with purchase data accounted on ERP.<\/li><li><strong>File GSTR-3B<\/strong>&nbsp;based on the GSTR-1 filed, purchase data on record and GSTR-2A information      available.<\/li><li>Similarly, there are&nbsp;<strong>other returns<\/strong>&nbsp;for other categories of taxpayers like casual taxpayer or      composition
