movement of goods to be generated on the eWay Bill Portal.\u00a0A GST registered person cannot transport goods in a vehicle whose value exceeds Rs. 50,000 (Single Invoice\/bill\/delivery challan) without an e-way bill that is generated on ewaybillgst.gov.in.<br \/> Alternatively, E-way bill can also be generated or cancelled\u00a0through SMS, Android App and\u00a0by site-to-site integration through API.<br \/>When an E way bill is generated, a unique E-way Bill Number (EBN) is allocated and is available to the supplier, recipient, and the transporter.<br \/> <br \/> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\" id=\"provisions-regarding-e-way-bill-in-gst\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"PROVISIONS_REGARDING_E_WAY_BILL_IN_GST\"><\/span>PROVISIONS REGARDING E WAY BILL IN GST<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The following are the various provisions regarding E-way bill under GST regime:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure issued?<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;E-Way bill will be generated when there is a movement\nof goods in a vehicle\/ conveyance of value more than Rs. 50,000 (either each\nInvoice or in aggregate of all invoices in a vehicle\/conveyance):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>In relation to a \u2018supply\u2019<\/li><li>For reasons other than a \u2018supply\u2019 ( say a return)<\/li><li>Due to inward \u2018supply\u2019 from an unregistered person<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>For this purpose, a supply may be either of the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>A supply made for a consideration (payment) in the course of business<\/li><li>A supply made for a consideration (payment) which may not be in the course of business<\/li><li>A supply without consideration (without payment)In simpler terms, &nbsp;the term \u2018supply\u2019 usually means a:<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Sale \u2013 sale of goods and payment made.<\/li><li>Transfer \u2013 branch transfers for instance.<\/li><li>Barter\/Exchange \u2013 where the payment is by goods instead of in money.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Therefore, e-Way Bills must be generated on the common portal\nfor all these types of movements. For certain specified Goods, the e-way bill\nneeds to&nbsp;be generated mandatorily&nbsp;even if the value of the\nconsignment of Goods is less than Rs. 50,000:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Inter-State movement of Goods\u00a0by the Principal\u00a0to the Job-worker by Principal\/registered Job-worker,<\/li><li>Inter-State Transport of Handicraft goods by a\u00a0dealer exempted from GST registration.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"316\" height=\"160\" src=\"https:\/\/commerceiets.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/images-21.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5384\" srcset=\"https:\/\/commerceiets.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/images-21.png 316w, https:\/\/commerceiets.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/images-21-300x152.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 316px) 100vw, 316px\" \/><figcaption>E WAY  BILL IN GST<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"who-should-generate-an-e-way-bill-in-gst\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"WHO_SHOULD_GENERATE_AN_E_WAY_BILL_IN_GST\"><\/span><strong>WHO SHOULD GENERATE AN E WAY BILL IN GST ?<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Registered Person<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 E way bill must be generated when there is a movement of goods of more than Rs 50,000 in value to or from a registered person. A Registered person or the transporter may choose to generate and carry e way bill even if the value of goods is less than Rs 50,000.<\/li><li><strong>Unregistered Persons<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 Unregistered persons are also required to generate e-Way Bill. However,      where a supply is made by an unregistered person to a registered person, the receiver will have to ensure all the compliances are met as if they were the supplier.<\/li><li><strong>Transporter<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013      Transporters&nbsp;carrying goods by road, air, rail, etc. also need to      generate e-Way Bill if&nbsp;the supplier has not generated an e-Way Bill.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Unregistered Transporters will be issued Transporter\nID&nbsp;on enrolling on the e-way bill portal after which Eway bills can be\ngenerated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td>\n  <strong>Who<\/strong>\n  <\/td><td>\n  <strong>When<\/strong>\n  <\/td><td>\n  <strong>Part<\/strong>\n  <\/td><td>\n  <strong>Form<\/strong>\n  <\/td><\/tr><tr><td>\n  Every Registered person under GST\n  <\/td><td>\n  Before movement of goods\n  <\/td><td>\n  Fill Part A\n  <\/td><td>\n  Form GST EWB-01\n  <\/td><\/tr><tr><td>\n  Registered person is consignor or\n  consignee (mode of transport may be owned or hired) OR is recipient of goods\n  <\/td><td>\n  Before movement of goods\n  <\/td><td>\n  Fill Part B\n  <\/td><td>\n  Form GST EWB-01\n  <\/td><\/tr><tr><td>\n  Registered person is consignor or\n  consignee &nbsp;and goods are handed over to transporter of goods\n  <\/td><td>\n  Before movement of goods\n  <\/td><td>\n  Fill Part B\n  <\/td><td>\n  &nbsp;The registered person shall\n  furnish the information relating to the transporter in Part B of FORM GST EWB-01\n  <\/td><\/tr><tr><td>\n  Transporter of goods\n  <\/td><td>\n  Before movement of goods\n  <\/td><td><\/td><td>\n  &nbsp;Generate e-way bill on basis\n  of information shared by the registered person in Part A of FORM GST EWB-01\n  <\/td><\/tr><tr><td>\n  An unregistered person under GST and\n  recipient is registered\n  <\/td><td>\n  Compliance to be done by Recipient\n  as if he is the Supplier.\n  <\/td><td><\/td><td>\n  &nbsp;1. If the goods are\n  transported for a distance of&nbsp;fifty kilometers or less, within the same\n  State\/Union territory from the place of business of the consignor to the\n  place of business of the transporter for further transportation, the supplier\n  or the transporter may not furnish the details of conveyance in Part B of\n  FORM GST EWB-01. 2. If supply is made by air, ship or railways, then the\n  information in Part A of FORM GST EWB-01 has to be filled in by the consignor\n  or the recipient\n  <\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><figcaption>E WAY BILL IN GST<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"cases-when-e-way-bill-in-gst-is-not-required\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"CASES_WHEN_E_WAY_BILL_IN_GST_IS_NOT_REQUIRED\"><\/span><strong>CASES WHEN E WAY BILL IN GST IS NOT REQUIRED<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"311\" height=\"162\" src=\"https:\/\/commerceiets.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/images-26.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5385\" srcset=\"https:\/\/commerceiets.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/images-26.jpeg 311w, https:\/\/commerceiets.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/images-26-300x156.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 311px) 100vw, 311px\" \/><figcaption>E WAY BILL IN GST<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In the following cases it is not necessary to generate e-Way\nBill:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>The mode of transport is non-motor vehicle<\/li><li>Goods transported from Customs port, airport, air cargo complex or land customs station to Inland Container Depot (ICD) or Container Freight Station (CFS) for clearance by Customs.<\/li><li>Goods transported under Customs supervision or under customs seal<\/li><li>Goods transported under Customs Bond from ICD to Customs port or from one custom      station to another.<\/li><li>Transit cargo transported to or from Nepal or Bhutan<\/li><li>Movement of goods caused by defence formation under Ministry of defence as a consignor or consignee<\/li><li>Empty Cargo containers are being transported<\/li><li>Consignor transporting goods to or from between place of business and a weighbridge for weighment&nbsp;at a distance of 20 kms, accompanied by a Delivery challan.<\/li><li>Goods being transported by rail where the Consignor of goods is the Central      Government,&nbsp;State Governments or a local authority.<\/li><li>Goods specifed as exempt from E-Way bill&nbsp;requirements in the respective State\/Union territory GST Rules.<\/li><li>Transport of certain specified goods- Includes the list of exempt supply of goods, Annexure to Rule 138(14), goods treated as no supply as per Schedule III, Certain schedule to Central tax Rate notifications.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Note: Part B of e-Way Bill is not required to be filled where\nthe distance between the consigner or consignee and the transporter is less\nthan 50 Kms and transport is within the same state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"status-of-implementation-across-india\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"_STATUS_OF_IMPLEMENTATION_ACROSS_INDIA\"><\/span><strong>&nbsp;STATUS OF\nIMPLEMENTATION ACROSS INDIA<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Inter-State movement of goods has seen rise in numbers of\ngeneration of eway bills ever since its implementation began from 1st April\n2018. State-wise implementation of e-way bill system&nbsp;has seen a good\nresponse with&nbsp;all the States and Union Territories joining the league in\nthe&nbsp;generation of eway bills for movement of goods within the State\/UT.\nHowever,&nbsp;reliefs have been provided to people of few States by way of\nexempting them from eway bill generation in case of monetary limits falling\nbelow threshold amount or certain specified items. For Instance,&nbsp;Tamil Nadu&nbsp;has\nexempted people of its State from the generation of eway bill if the monetary\nlimit of the items falls below Rs. One Lakh. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>VALIDITY OF E WAY BILL IN GST <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/commerceiets.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/images-25-1.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5386\"\/><figcaption>E WAY BILL IN GST<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>An e-way bill is valid for periods as listed below, which is\nbased on the distance travelled by the goods. The generator of\nsuch Eway bill has to either four hours before expiry or within four hours\nafter its expiry can extend Eway bill&nbsp;validity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"documents-or-details-required-to-generate-e-way-bill\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"DOCUMENTS_OR_DETAILS_REQUIRED_TO_GENERATE_E-WAY_BILL\"><\/span><strong>DOCUMENTS OR DETAILS\nREQUIRED TO GENERATE E-WAY BILL<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Invoice\/ Bill of Supply\/ Challan related to the consignment of goods.<\/li><li>Transport by road \u2013\u00a0Transporter ID\u00a0or Vehicle number.<\/li><li>Transport by rail, air, or ship \u2013 Transporter ID, Transport document number, and      date on the document.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure
