class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Undoubtedly, <a href=\"https:\/\/commerceiets.com\/statistics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"statistics (opens in a new tab)\">statistics<\/a> has universal applicability, but there are also some facts which prove as limitations of statistics. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-pale-cyan-blue-background-color has-background has-medium-font-size\"><strong>ACCORDING TO NEWSHOLME<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cStatistics must be regarded as an instrument of research of\ngreat value but having severe limitations which are not possible to overcome\nand as such need our careful attention.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The limitations of statistics are as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"qualitative-aspects-ignored\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"QUALITATIVE_ASPECTS_IGNORED\"><\/span>QUALITATIVE ASPECTS IGNORED<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Statistics consider only those facts that can be expensed\nquantitatively. It means statistics do not record qualitative aspects of the\ndata. The important variables like honesty, integrity, loyalty etc. cannot be\nstudied under the scope of the statistics.&nbsp;\nTo study the qualitative data, first it must be converted into the\nquantitative form, and then the technique of statistical analysis can be\napplied on it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-pale-cyan-blue-background-color has-background has-medium-font-size\"><strong>ACCORDING TO HORACE SACRIST<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cSome phenomenon cannot be quantitatively measured, honesty\nof resourcefulness, integrity, goodwill, all important in industry as well as\nin life generally, are not susceptible of direct statistical measurement.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"statistics-deals-with-aggregates-only\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"_STATISTICS_DEALS_WITH_AGGREGATES_ONLY\"><\/span>&nbsp;STATISTICS DEALS WITH\nAGGREGATES ONLY<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The results of the statistics are not applicable on the\nindividuals. This is so because statistics cannot deal with the single,\nisolated and ungrouped data. It deals with set of observations only.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>EXAMPLE: <\/strong>The finding of per capita income of Punjab does not mean every person residing there has same income. Some people may have more and other may have less. This shows that statistics do not deal with individuals and its results are applicable on group only.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"statistics-deals-with-averages-only\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"STATISTICS_DEALS_WITH_AVERAGES_ONLY\"><\/span>STATISTICS DEALS WITH AVERAGES ONLY<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-pale-cyan-blue-background-color has-background has-medium-font-size\"><strong>ACCORDING TO WI KING<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cStatistics largely deals with averages and these averages\nmay be made up of individuals items radically different from each other.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The above statement truly reflects that statistics deals\nwith averages only. In fact, statistics is not a pure science as like other\nphysical sciences. The reason being the phenomenon taken under the study is\naffected by multiplicity of causes. And it is impossible to study the effect of\neach factor individually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"statistics-can-be-misused\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"STATISTICS_CAN_BE_MISUSED\"><\/span>STATISTICS CAN BE MISUSED<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Statistics can be easily misused if the wrong person is\nusing it. There is lots of personal judgment or biasness involved in it while:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Selecting the analysis technique<\/li><li>Selecting the sample<\/li><li>Deriving the results.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">A statistician or researcher can misuse the data collected<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>If he has no proper knowledge to use it<\/li><li>If he is inexperienced<\/li><li>By applying biased analysis techniques<\/li><li>By choosing favorable items in the sample.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"statistics-does-not-reveal-the-entire-story\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"STATISTICS_DOES_NOT_REVEAL_THE_ENTIRE_STORY\"><\/span>STATISTICS DOES NOT REVEAL THE ENTIRE STORY<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Statistics do not provide solutions to the all kinds of the\nproblems in all circumstances. There are so many problems which are affected by\nmany factors like culture, religion, history, philosophy, character etc.\nStatistics are not of so much help to study all such problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"statistics-can-be-used-by-experts-only\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"STATISTICS_CAN_BE_USED_BY_EXPERTS_ONLY\"><\/span>STATISTICS CAN BE USED BY EXPERTS ONLY<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The techniques of the statistics are not easy to use. These\ncan be used by experts only who are having sufficient knowledge of applying the\ntechniques. Also the researcher must possess the experience of collecting the\ndata from the adequate or correct sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"statistics-results-are-not-always-dependable\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"STATISTICS_RESULTS_ARE_NOT_ALWAYS_DEPENDABLE\"><\/span>STATISTICS RESULTS ARE NOT ALWAYS DEPENDABLE<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Statistics is the science of averages. All the results are\nfound out with the help of the probabilistic analysis techniques. The findings\nare not purely correct. The outcomes are also not applicable in all the\nsituations. This proves as one of the serious limitations of statistics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"according-to-connor\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"ACCORDING_TO_CONNOR\"><\/span>ACCORDING TO CONNOR<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cStatistics deals only with measurable aspects of things and\ntherefore can seldom give the complete solution to a problem. They provide a\nbasis for judgement but not the whole judgment.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"only-a-mean-not-an-end\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"ONLY_A_MEAN_NOT_AN_END\"><\/span>ONLY A MEAN NOT AN END<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-pale-cyan-blue-background-color has-background has-medium-font-size\"><strong>ACCORDING TO CROXTON AND COWDEN<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cIt must be assumed that the statistical method is the only\nmethod for the use in research; neither should this method be considered the\nbest attack for every problem.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The tools of statistics are supposed to be only a means to\nunderstand any given problem rather than a method to solve any problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\" id=\"conclusion\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"CONCLUSION\"><\/span>CONCLUSION<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The limitations of statistics are numerous but it is still a useful and helpful science to study various problems.
